Stock to Keep
Cycles: All Grooving operations, Parting, Pecking
Definition
It gives the ability to choose the side of the part you want to keep after the parting operation. This option is also available for grooving cycles, especially in case of finishing operation.
You can choose between 2 options:
Face
Back
(In grooving cycles, the options are called 'Correct' and 'Other side')
Face
Most of time, you need to keep the 'Face' side, which is the side where the operations are done. After the parting operation, you may need to return or rework your part, so you need to keep the stock this way. This is the default option.
Back
In some cases, you may want to keep the yet unmachined stock or the stock on the back For example, consider you need to machine 2 parts at the same time and after the parting operation you need to keep the part on the left to make finishing operations. Another special case is to machine 2 or more parts on the same cylindrical stock. The parting operation is repeated several times to cut many similar parts in a bar. Some simple examples of such parts are washer, pulleys, etc. The video shows this example with the machining and cutting of pulleys. |
