Choose from a list or none of Z altitudes define in the Solid analysis stage. This forces the tool to have passes done at the altitudes in the list, no matter what value for the Z step is given.

The List of Altitudes is a parameter available in the Strategy window of most 3 axes roughing and some other Shape milling cycles. It is deactivated/set to None by default and if there are some defined lists, they can be accessed as a drop-down menu.

Strategy Window.png

To create a list, carry out Solid Analysis from the Design tab and select the Planes tab.

The initial altitudes list is read automatically on the solid for its the flat surfaces.

To manually add an altitude on the list, enter the value in the Altitude field or we can also pick the value from the solid and validate it with the icon on the right.

The new altitude values are added in the correct order with their respective ID being labelled Manual.

We can delete the values from the list or reinitialize the default list if required.

To save any new list, enter the list name in the Name field and save it with the icon on its right.

This new named list should appear in the Altitudes Lists at the bottom.

The created lists can be accessed from the strategy window.

On applying the altitudes list, the Z step value defined for the programming toolpath is no longer prioritized and the tool is forced to pass through the set altitude values on the list.

Watch the video on the right demonstrating how it works.
