Retraction Type

Cycle: Roughing, Balanced Roughing

Definition

This command manages the tool retraction at each pass.

The pull down menu proposes:

  • Profile: the tool moves up the side at each pass (in work feedrate).

  • Retract: the tool retracts at 45° at each pass (in rapid). It is not possible in PART toolpath.

  • Mixt: profile and direct options are combined according to the tool used. The angle taken into account is the cutting edge of the tool (kappa angle) + the front angle clearance defined in the cycle options. The aim is to protect the insert edge.

  • Profile and retract: the tool moves up the side at each pass and retracts at 45 degrees. It is not possible in PART toolpath.

In this example, the tool angle is 50°, the front angle clearance is 2°.

Mixt is the option chosen : the first slope can be done, the second one, which angle is 55°, can not be followed by the tool, direct retracts are done.
