Smoothing Height
Cycle: Roughing, Balanced Roughing, Finish Groove
Overview
![]() | Allows the removal of small parasitic ripples. Hence, reducing the risk of having these ripples dividing sub-pockets and breaking the part. Especially useful when profiles are curved. |
Definition
The Smoothing Height parameter defines a limit measured from the top of the part.
Any groove located within this height, meaning shallower than the defined value, is automatically ignored during finishing, while deeper grooves are still machined normally.
By default, when Smoothing Height is not applied, the tool machines all grooves, including very shallow ones near the top surface.
Once the parameter is activated, the system evaluates the depth of each groove relative to the defined height, excludes the shallow ones from the toolpath, and automatically recalculates the toolpath to reflect these changes.
