Pencil Milling

The Pencil Milling is a 3D contouring which removes material along the bi-tangency areas, that is to say the areas with multiple contacts between the tool and the part.

Key Points

  • Allows material to be removed from the interior corners of a part before passing the finishing or rework tool.

  • This cycle is used to machine the angles in 3D contouring.

  • Possibility of machining going down or going up.

  • Possibility of using a 2T, toroidal or hemispherical cutter.

  • Does not manage the Down cut/Conventional cut machining mode.

  • Does not manage pass depth.
