Here is a control checklist to avoid any issue while installing a floating licence system:
the system is compatible with Windows 10 and 11 and Windows Server 2019-2022
server (Lmgrd.exe) and daemon (communication with GO2cam: gotocam.exe) must have the same version → with V6.11: Lmtools version is 11.19.4.1.
check the presence of all the files: *.LIC in server and *.LAN in clients.
licence and LAN files cannot be .txt format files, check that they are *.LIC and *.LAN files! Sometimes the extension are converted to *.txt. And be careful, according to Windows settings, some extensions can be hidden!
name of *.LIC file must not include special character such as '@'.
If you concatenate the multiple *.LIC files into one only *.LIC file, you must write the SERVER and VENDOR lines only once!
open ports: check port numbers in firewall settings.
type of network: should be private.
If connection is cut: GO2cam will be closed, even if the connection was restablished in the meantime! You should save your work, there is a delay of about 5 minutes before shut down.
Utilities
In GO2cam Installation folder (GO2cam_Intl>GO2camV611>System), you can find an application to test the server: GO2TestLicence.bat.
Double-click the file, then at the end of line, enter @'Server IP Address' (ex: @127.0.0.1) then Enter key.
A txt file is created and report information about the system: Lmtools version for server and daemon, server IP, type of features in the LIC file, possible errors, etc.
In Lmtools installation folder (GO2cam_Intl>GO2floatingTools_LmToolsV6>debug), a log file is created (GO2ServDebug.log) that analyzes the behaviour of the system at each connection; it may gives you interesting information.

In Server Status page, you can check if the server is running well. Click the button ‘Perform status Enquiry’. You are given important information:

In case of issue, you can open the page Server Diags and click Perform Diagnostics. Licenses and communication are analyzed and status is given for each licence: licence can be checked out or not. |  |
Warning about GO2cam V6.10 and V6.11
 |
To run GO2cam V6.10 and GO2cam V6.11 on the same client computer with floating licences, we need 2 different PCs as servers of licences. If we use one only server, the user computer will not be able to open GO2cam V610! Note: this limitation is due to the change of licence structure in V611. It will occur only between versions 6.10 and 6.11. (A single server is capable of deploying both V6.09 and V6.10 versions. A single server will be used for version V6.11 and future version V6.12!) |
