Undo Redo

The Undo [1] and Redo [2] commands enable to cancel one action and to make it again.

The Undo / Redo can be done for any action and multiple times (up to 100).

Access the commands

3 ways to run the commands Undo and Redo:

  • In General Toolbar, in the top right-hand side corner

  • In the menu Edit

  • With the shortcuts Ctrl+Z (Undo) and Ctrl+Y (Redo)

Behaviour

  1. You can cancel one action with Undo and repeat it several times. The actions are cancelled one by one. This is the same behaviour for the Redo command.

  2. You can also accede to the list of actions, available with a right-click on the Undo and Redo, in the General Toolbar.

There are two types of lists:

  • Geometry list: actions done in wireframe and solid geometry, and creation of workplanes,

  • Machining list: creation and editing of operations, actions on the material, adding techno commands.

These two lists are kept when you go from Design to Machining and vice versa. But the lists are reset each time you do:

  • Saving the part file,

  • in Geometry,  the Update of geometry keeps the list of actions, while the Total Update resets the list,

  • in Machining, the Total Update elements and the Update of machining both reset the list of actions.

Undo List in Geometry

The actions are sorted in the chronological order, from bottom to top: last action is on the top.

The icons give information about the type of action:

Commands of creation: segment, line, hole, etc.

Deletion of element.

Commands of modification of geometry: fillet, chamfer, drawing, etc.

Modification of an element (commands Edit).

Modification of solid with the command Control.

Update by user: a command that runs complex calculation has been used, and the consequence is that the Undo is limited to one action.

The part was updated automatically. Only one Undo action is possible after that.

With this list, you can make a multiple selection and consequently cancel several actions at once! The actions cancelled are automatically switched to the list of Redo actions.

  1. Multi selection in Undo List:

2. The selected actions appear in the list of Redo:

  1. The undo list is short now:

When doing a Total Geometry, it keeps the list of actions done.
As for Total Update, only one Undo action is possible after that.

Undo List in Machining

The behaviour is mostly the same as in geometry. You can make single undo and redo or make multiple selection with the lists.

The icons in the Undo and Redo lists are also the same as in geometry.

  • Cycle calculation [1]

  • Editing cycle [2]

  • Add a techno command [3]

  • Open a material [4]

For the creation and the editing of operations, the name of the relative operation is given in the list.

In machining, some complex commands can keep only the last action.

In this case, the list of Undo actions is reset! Only one undo is possible then. This happens for the following commands or actions:

  • update of calculation,

  • create or open a machine file,

  • part symmetry,

  • optimization,

  • load a symbol (vice for example),

  • edit the stock if you say Yes to the update of calculation.

When we use Undo and Redo commands in machining, we do not recalculate automatically toolpaths and remaining stock. It enables to save time but stock and toolpaths are not updated.

In this case, we automatically display an orange balloon on the Update icon. This gives the information that an update should be done.
