Crash Reports

In October 2023, GO2cam R&D team implemented a new device to detect crashes of the software.

When a crash occurs at customers', a message is sent directly to our R&D department. Information and data are included and are an important help to fix the crash issue. Most of the crashes can be fixed and the quality of the software is greatly improved thanks to this mechanism. You can even help us more by sending additional data, or you can choose not to send the report.

Error Report Dialog

When a crash happens in GO2cam, the following dialog is automatically open.

Click ‘Send Report’ will send us some information about the crash and screenshots of your computer.

At this moment, there is nothing that can be done to keep GO2cam open and save your data. We always recommend you to save frequently your data or use our backup service; more information here: Save and Backup files.

It is possible to personalize the report:

you can send us more details, by clicking 'Provide additionnal info about the problem (recommended).

The dialog is extended and offers to enter your email address and write a comment to explain what you were doing just before the crash.

These explanation can be a great help to identify what happened and how it happened!

by clicking ‘What does this report contain?’ you can open another dialog where you will find:
- the list of files sent to GO2cam International: crashdump.dmp and crashrpt.xml will help us understand what part of the software stopped working correctly. These files are very important and do not contain any confidential information.
- *.jpg file(s) that are screenshot(s) of your desktop at the very moment of crash. These files are a not mandatory, they confirm the situation of the bug. If you have several screens, there will be several screenshots. Only one can be useful for us. You can select the file, do a right-click and delete the file.
- Also, with a right-click anywhere in the dialog, you can open a popup menu and be able to send us more file(s): if possible, it is a great help for us to get the project you are working on (*.PCE or *.GMZ file).

Unsend the Error Report

Of course, you can make the choice of not sending the report.

You may work on very secret project and do not want to send any data. Or maybe you crashed several times by repeating the same actions, one report is enough in that situation.

In the Error Report Dialog, there is no way to unsend it. You need to go in Windows Taskbar, move the mouse over the dialog and click the Red Cross.
