Specific Machining Cycles
We have recently developed 4 machining cycles dedicated to swiss-type lathes. They are also available in the Turning modules.
Form Finishing: finishing operation is done with forming tools, especially for Back turning operation.
Die Threading: This cycle is very similar to a tapping operation but this one is done for a shaft shape. The tools used are thread dies.
Thread Whirling: this operation is similar the a thread milling process, except that inserts are mounted on the inside of a cutting ring. The ring turns around the part to machine the thread in one pass
Knurling: machining operation that consists in creating combination of horizontal, vertical or crossing lines on the surface of material. The operation is performed for producing indentations on a part of a workpiece. Knurling allows hands or fingers to get a better grip on the knurled object than would be provided by the originally smooth metal surface.
Re-chucking: it is a method used to reposition a bar stock within a machine tool to allow for machining in multiple passes. It involves moving the sliding headstock to clamp and unclamp the bar, allowing it to be pushed forward the workpiece for further Machining. This is often used for long workpieces. |
