Machining Tree: Stock
Presentation
There are 3 types of functions available regarding the stock : edition, complementary creations, display.
The stock is automatically created when you go from design mode to machining mode.
To accede to the stock complementary functions, right-click on the Stock line of the Machining Tree :

Options
Common Options
Edit | You can change the dimensions and the shape of the stock |
Edit Attributes | To change color, layer etc. |
Label | Give a name to the Stock element |
Utilities>Solid Creation | Creation of the solid corresponding to the current stock |
Utilities>Stock Repairing | During the calculation of stock, if errors are found, a message appears on the bottom of screen and suggests to repair the stock. You can use this function which will repair the original stock and then run the calculation again. |
Utilities>Export… | The stock at a t time is exported in X_T or in STEP format file. |
Simulation>Import STL/X_T Stock for simulation | You can import a STL or X_T file that will be used only during simulation. The aim of this option is to enable to have a realistic simulation with a shape stock and keep rectangular stock to make an easier and more rapid stock calculation. |
Simulation>Use the STL/X_T stock | After loading the STL or X_T file, you can choose to simulate the machining using this file stock or not. This option is interesting because simulating with the STL or X_T stock can be longer to calculate and the STL or X_T is not necessary for all types of machining. |
Collision / Rapid | Management of the collisions between the stock and the rapid paths (calculation may be slower). |
Un-check it to save time of calculation. The stock is not calculated anymore. You can also un-check the function cycle by cycle if an operation is too long. (You can also check the option 'Stock compacting' in the menu Tools\Options\Machining) | |
Cycle Color | The faces of the stock can take the color of the programmed cycle |
Milling Only

Utilities>Create section | You can create the section of the current stock in 2D geometry at any moment |
Utilities>Stock Update | Ability to update the stock wihout re-calculating all the cycles toolpaths |
Load and position symbols used for clamping the workpiece. | |
Available if a machine file is loaded : change of the setting face by a manual action | |
Table of creation of machining origins | |
Single Origin | Available if a machine file is loaded : change of origin for the whole part, creation of the associated plane which is set as the reference plane in the machine file. You can create it with this command or also in the table of machining origins. |
Turning Only
Comparison between the finished profile to machine and the stock machined at a t time | |
The section of the current stock is created in wireframe geometry | |
Bar Stock | Definition of the length of the bar, useful for simulation and MTE. |
