Microsoft-Style Installation

Directory organization has been updated to be similar to Microsoft-style structures.

The software is installed by default in C:\Program Files\GO2cam_Intl\GO2camV612, but this can be modified during installation. If an older version of V6.12 is already present, the installer will suggest the directory of that version for the update.

The GO2cam directories are now divided into three categories:

Public or Shared Directories (Share Directory):
Examples include data, sym, tec, tool, etc. All these files can be reassigned using the GO2cam options dialog. They can either be moved collectively to a server or individually, via the menu Options -> Addressing.

The tmp directory no longer exists and has been replaced with a user directory and a volatile directory.

Temporary and Volatile Directories:

The volatile directory, which replaces the old temporary directory, is now automatically created during each GO2cam session. It is deleted automatically at the end of the session. This resolves the issue of working with multiple GO2cam sessions simultaneously and prevents files from overwriting each other.

User Directory:

The user directory contains all the specific files defined by the user, such as custom setups, toolbars, options, and themes. Logging in with a different username allows for a different configuration, as it will point to a separate address. This directory is accessible via a dedicated button in GO2cam.

The only directory that remains and may need to be purged is: C:\Users\'username'\AppData\Local\GO2cam\6.12.

This user directory can also have subdirectories:

• backup: Contains all the user's work backups.

• logs: Stores error files, information files (Interface, Simulation), and debug files.

To manage this user directory, a utility called DelUserConfig.exe has been created, which allows for cleaning it (as the folder is now more difficult to access).

This utility can be accessed:

• Directly in the GO2cam.exe directory.

• Via Windows: Start Menu → All Apps → GO2camV612 → DelUserConfig or by simply typing it in the search box of the Start Menu

Once launched, the utility allows you to delete configuration files, log files, backup files.. Simply check the desired options and validate.

One other consequence of the new structure of directories is the possibility to reassign addressing locations collectively.

By selecting a main directory (either local or on a server), all folders under it can be redirected to the chosen directory. If a predefined subfolder (e.g. mat, tool, etc.) does not exist in the selected directory, it will be created automatically.

This option is only available for Machining and Environment directories, as they can only be used in Forced Mode.
