In wireframe milling, geometry selection defines the area or contour to machine from the elements of the drawing. Select the geometry required by the milling operation to create one or more profiles.
What is a Profile?
A profile is a path formed by a single drawing element or a chain of connected elements, such as lines and arcs. It defines the boundary of an area or the contour followed by the tool.
Closed profile: the path returns to its starting point and encloses an area.
Open profile: the path has separate ends and does not enclose an area.
The selection process depends on the type of profile required. Standard selection creates closed profiles for pockets and islands. Manual selection allows open or closed profiles.
Selection Guides and Commands
Wireframe Profile Selection
Define a profile path, choose chaining options and adjust its starting and ending points.
Pocket and Island Selection on Wireframe
Identify and select pockets and islands; convert an island into a subpocket.
Open Area on Profile
Declare the open sides of a selected pocket through which the tool may enter or leave. Open sections are shown in purple. See the Wireframe Profiles section on this command page.
Z Altitudes on Wireframe
Enter machining levels manually or recover a Z value from reference geometry.
Copy Altitudes
Use the pipette to transfer selected altitude values to other profiles.
Stock Selection on Wireframe
Select the stock boundary used by the operation.
