Broaching

cbl520-20230207-083456.png

Machining process that uses a toothed tool to remove material. This cycle is very specific since it is not a milling cycle (the tool does not rotate) nor a turning cycle (the part does not rotate). The tool is run linearly on Z axis against a surface to produce the cut.

Key Points

  • This cycle runs only on solid part, because it needs solid faces to be calculated.

  • Retract Distance: Especially useful for interior toolpaths, to avoid touching the interior diameter

  • Management of Grooves wider than Tool: program several lateral passes in Y

  • Rapid Toolpath: Improvement of rapid toolpath while indexing with a new motion of positioning to enable to turn round as on the machine.

Broaching Tool

New process for the creation of a broaching tool: creation of 2 elements (insert and body) in the Clamping/Toolholders environment.

The tool file is now created directly in the tools' library of the menu Broaching and disappeared from the environment ‘Tools Libraries/Forming Tools’

Broaching

New ability to program broaching operation offcenter.

Previously, the tool had to be aligned with Z axis. Now, with the new computing method, you can program broaching offcenter.
