Limitation of Machining General

Cycles: millyuGO Pocket, millyuGO, PAM, Stock, Cast

When you are setting limitation of area to machine, you have 2 options:

  1. By offset

  2. By window

In the following examples, both slots will be included in the geometry selection, and a 3 mm diameter tool will be used for machining.

  1. Limitation by offset:

Due to the offset limitation, setting the value to 1.5 mm restricts machining to the ‘5 mm-slot’.

This is because the offset is added to the tool diameter (3 mm), resulting in an effective cutting Width of 4.5 mm (3 mm +1.5 mm), which only fits the ‘5 mm-slot’.

  1. Limitation by window

Under the window limitation, setting the value to 8 mm ensures that only slots longer than 11 mm will be machined.

This is because the effective cutting Length is determined by adding the tool diameter (3 mm) to the set value (8 mm), resulting in a minimum required slot length of 11 mm.
