Z Plunge type

Cycle: Plunge Pocketing, Plunge Contouring

Definition

This function allows to carry out three types of Z plunges:

  • Simple: it is a one pass Z plunge cycle.
The ISO code generates a simple hole cycle (usually a G81).

3113_2-20230208-001032.png
  • Deburring: it is a several passes drilling cycle with tool back off.
The ISO code generates a cycle corresponding to a Z plunge with deburring.

  • Chip break.: it is a several passes drilling cycle with a slight draw-back of the tool.
The ISO code generates a cycle corresponding to a Z plunge with chip breaking.

For Simple type, the Leadin Depth can be defined for which the Leadin for the Z Plunge cycle is carried out at a different feedrate. The Leadin Feedrate is defined in the Technology page.

The Leadin Rotation speed can also be defined in the Technology page. In the Strategy page, the Leadin Depth must have a value, else Leadin Feedrate and Leadin rotation are grayed out.

If Deburring or Chip break. is selected, more parameters appear, listed below.

  • Z Step: this is the Z increment between each pass. It corresponds to the cutting of the total depth. If the incremental depth is greater than the maximum depth of pass of the tool, there is a warning message.

  • Incr. retract: it is the retraction distance between each incremental Z plunging, available only for deburring.

  • Dwell: the value corresponds to the dwell in second on each increment, available only for chip breaking.
